Traineeship FAQs

You will have the option of applying to work at any of our well-established centres. These include Armadale, Surrey Hills, Nunawading, Brighton East, Williamstown, Williams Landing, Tarneit and Mernda (Maples branded centre).

Please indicate on your letter of application which centre location suits you best and if there are any others that you are happy to consider.

We are opening a lot of new centres in the next 12 months and as they grow there may be the opportunity to move if there is a location that suits you better.

Your employment with Explorers will start in mid-January and the training with Selmar not long after that.

Each established centre will be able to take 2 trainees so there will be approximately 16 in the first cohort. We may have an intake later in the year as our new centres become more established.

The recruitment team will short-list applicants and will let you know if you have made the short-list or not. There will be an interview process shortly afterwards.

We encourage you to apply but we are able to take a limited number of trainees with prior qualifications higher than a Cert II.

Selmar Institute of Education is one of Australia’s leading Registered Training Organisations in the Early Childhood Education sector. They are very experienced in running on-line programs and supporting every student to achieve their qualification.

You will be working at an Explorers centre full-time as part of the team. You may be working with very  young babies, toddlers or kindergarten children so the range of experience that you will gain is very exciting.

You will have 3 hours per week paid study time. The rest of your on-line studies must be completed in your own time outside of work.

Trainers from Selmar will conduct on-site training for 2 hours a fortnight for the first two months, and monthly thereafter.
