Work Life at Explorers

Is there work flexibility at Explorers?

Yes, if you are unable to work full time hours, we recommended applying for a casual position. As a casual employee, we will ask you your availability throughout the week and offer shifts to suit you, if they are available.

What Professional Development opportunities will I have access to?

Explorers offer professional development opportunities such a study tour to Reggio Emilia, Italy, Reggio Emilia approach workshops, and access to seminars and lectures by leading professionals in the industry. We will also organise First Aid, Anaphylaxis, CPR and Asthma training for you.

Explorers have a personalised online earning and communication platform which connects all Educators together and provides a system for discussion and collaboration. On this platform you can complete multiple online training modules specifically designed by us for us!

Can I develop my career at Explorers?

Yes – Explorers support the development of our employee’s careers. We support our staff to build skills and knowledge to then apply for new roles and opportunities within our organisation. See Career Pathways for more information.

What is your philosophy?

The core of our philosophy is based around supporting our children, families, educators, community and environment. We incorporate their beliefs and understandings of children and learning into our values and daily practice. How does Explorers approach the Educator’s role in the learning and development of each child?

At Explorers we believe our Educators hold a vital role in the learning and development of children. We expect our Educators to:

  • Plan a curriculum to promote children’s development
  • Carefully plan and prepare the environment
  • Interact with the children to promote learning
  • Provide nurture, guidance and support to children
  • Observe children and assessing their progress
  • Establish strong partnerships with families and encouraging their involvement

 What is the dress code?

Explorers promotes an all-black dress code with closed in, comfortable shoes. We provide an apron for our Educators to wear to protect their clothing.

What are the Explorers locations?

Explorers currently have centres in Armadale, Brighton East, Surrey Hills,  Williams Landing, Mernda, Tarneit and Williamstown.

We have new centres opening in Ashwood, Greenvale and Nunawading. Our Head Office is located at 110 Bridport St Albert Park VIC 3206.

Do I get curriculum planning time?

Each room is entitled to 4 hours a week of non-contact programming and planning time. How these hours are shared are determined by the Room Leader.

What are the different career paths available?

We support and encourage our Educators to grow from casual or part time Assistant Educators to Room Leaders. Room Leaders are encouraged to build the skills and experience to become Educational Leaders and Directors in Training. Educators are also able to move centre locations when necessary or appropriate.

We also encourage our staff to build their careers within Head Office roles such as administration, recruitment, finance, operations and marketing.

Recruitment and Application Process

Can I apply for more than one role / location?

Yes – you can apply for multiple roles and locations.

Can I apply if I am not a permanent resident or am in the process for applying for my permanent residency?

To be successful in your application you will need to have your relevant educational qualifications recognized by ACECQA (Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority).

What qualifications do I need to apply?

The necessary qualifications vary between roles. At a minimum, you must be studying towards or have completed an ACECQA approved early childhood qualification. Click here to check if you have an approved ACEQA approved qualification.

What do I need to include in my application?

You are required to provide a resume, cover letter and minimum of one reference.

Do I receive confirmation that my application was received successfully?

If your application was successfully uploaded into the system you will receive an email notification confirming your submission. If you are having trouble submitting your application please email [email protected]

Will I be informed if I am not selected for an interview?

Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email.

If I do not receive an interview, can I reapply for another position?

Yes – you are able to apply for as many positions as you see fit.

What should I expect during the interview process?

Successful candidates will be contacted to arrange a short 5-10 minute phone interview. Here we will chat to you, get to know you, answer any of your questions and briefly discuss your application.

If your phone interview is successful, you will be contacted for an in-person interview. This interview will be of a similar nature, whilst going into a bit more detail. This is a great time for you to ask any more questions you may have.
